Bang Bo and Khlong Dan Residents Demand Pump Systems for Floods
Residents of Bang Bo and Khlong Dan districts in Samut Prakan are demanding installation of additional water pumps and drainage systems to combat persistent flooding caused by inadequate infrastructure.
Residents of Bang Bo and Khlong Dan districts in Samut Prakan province are suffering from persistent flooding due to inadequate drainage systems. After locals raised the issue on social media, hundreds of residents have shared their concerns and experiences, particularly in Bang Bo community Facebook groups.
Chati Kaew Tatip, adviser to the Khlong Dan Subdistrict Administration Organization, revealed that people are affected by flooding and poor water drainage because some areas lack sufficient pumping equipment and drainage infrastructure.
Chati said he posted about the problem on Facebook to alert relevant agencies and the public, and the response has been substantial, with hundreds of residents sharing information and expressing their views, especially in Bang Bo community groups. This reflects the widespread impact of the issue.
Chati emphasized that solving the problem requires installing additional drainage systems and pipes, particularly multiple water pumps at strategic locations. He noted that a single pump is insufficient to handle the volume of water entering the area.
He called on the government and relevant agencies to urgently survey the affected areas and allocate budget for drainage system improvements, including the installation of pipes and pumps appropriate to local conditions, to provide concrete relief to Bang Bo and Khlong Dan residents.
