Thailand Trains MICE Operators in Chiang Mai for Global Markets
Thailand trained 30 MICE industry professionals in Chiang Mai to meet global standards and attract international events, with the government-backed program introducing operators to international best practices and SITE Thailand's 90-country
The Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau (TCEB) and SITE Thailand jointly organized the "Incentive Business Masterclass from Thailand To The Global Stage" training on September 28-29 at the Meelia Hotel in Chiang Mai. Dr. Nicha Singburasudm, senior manager of the Northern Office for Meetings and Exhibitions Promotion at TCEB, opened the program aimed at upgrading the capabilities of MICE industry professionals.
Panporn Vongchanthaphen, president of SITE Thailand, co-hosted the event. Around 30 participants attended, including hotel operators, tour companies, hotel associations, and tourism associations from Chiang Mai and neighboring provinces. The two-day training featured experienced speakers and industry experts, including advisors and senior leaders from tourism and hospitality associations.
Dr. Nicha explained that TCEB recognizes the importance of improving service standards among tourism operators and thus supports SITE Thailand's training initiatives. The bureau hopes that northern tourism operators will better understand service excellence and position the region as a preferred destination for MICE events.
Chiang Mai has already gained significant momentum in the MICE sector, ranking second globally among digital nomads for remote work and meetings. The training aims to introduce operators to SITE Thailand's global network of 90 countries and international best practices, enabling them to meet higher standards and attract more international MICE business.
Panporn Vongchanthaphen stated that SITE Thailand is committed to developing human capacity in the incentive travel and meetings industry through partnerships with TCEB, focusing on elevating professional capabilities across Thailand.
