Bangkok Opens Flood Relief Registration Via Tha-ra App, Sets 4 Centers
The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration has launched flood‑relief registration through the Tha‑ra mobile app and its own platform, with in‑person sign‑ups available at all 50 district offices. Assistance covers home repairs, temporary shelter, vocational tools, medical costs, funeral expenses and basic living allowances, with volunteer engineers surveying damaged homes. Four incident command posts have been set up in Don Mueang, Lad Krabang‑Rang Klao, Lad Krabang Road and Nong Chok to manage water flow and prepare for expected heavy rain from October 11‑14.
The BMA’s incident command posts will be set up as follows: the North Bangkok zone at Don Mueang Airport will handle water coming from Pathum Thani; the Lad Krabang‑Rang Klao zone will operate a permanent command centre with senior BMA officials on site until water recedes; the Lad Krabang Road zone will be located at Soi Lad Krabang 100 and Sanam Na Khon park to assist residents along the flooded road; and the Nong Chok zone will focus on the critical Floriya Village and surrounding communities where water levels remain dangerous. For the forecasted heavy rain between October 11 and 14, the BMA said it retains district‑level disaster‑relief centres to review emergency plans, will issue Cell Broadcast alerts to affected areas, and will prepare evacuation routes, real‑time vehicle‑parking updates, and shelter information. Assistance will be coordinated to reach vulnerable groups, with food and relief‑package distribution points established. Although Bangkok will host a World Bank meeting during the same period, the BMA said its contingency plan will focus on the event area around the National Convention Centre Queen Sirikit in Khlong Toei to ensure the meeting proceeds without disruption.
