Bangkok — 6 October 2026, Deputy Prime Minister and Transport Minister Phiphat Ratchakitprakarn stated that Bhumjaithai members who attended Newin Chidchob’s birthday on 4 October had not left flood‑hit areas to do so. Speaking at Government House at 09:50, Phiphat said he had attended Newin’s birthday almost every year for nearly two decades, describing it as an expression of friendship rather than a political gathering. He rejected suggestions that the event served as a political roll call, noting that the prime minister had ordered officials and politicians in flood‑affected areas to stay and monitor the situation. Phiphat affirmed that Bhumjaithai MPs in Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya and Ang Thong provinces, as well as surrounding Bangkok areas, remained in their constituencies, and the three deputy interior ministers stayed in Bangkok to oversee flood relief. He also said no party matters or political advice were discussed at the celebration, and that he had not seen members of other parties at the gathering, which was attended solely by longtime Bhumjaithai supporters following a local tradition observed each year in Buriram and Surin.
