Senator Blasts PM for Attending Birthday Amid Flood Crisis
Senator Nantana criticized Prime Minister Anutin and his cabinet for attending Nevin Chidchob's birthday amid nationwide floods, calling the Buriram command center claim a pretext. She said the celebration ignored flood victims' suffering and was aimed at keeping Anutin in power, reflecting monopolistic influence.
At 14:15 on October 5, 2069 BE (2026 CE) at the Parliament, Senator Nantana Nantawaropas gave an interview regarding photos showing Prime Minister Anutin Chaengvirakul, also Minister of Interior, and the Cabinet attending the birthday party of Nevin Chidchob, president of Buriram United Football Club, on October 4, while many provinces were experiencing flooding. She said the suffering of flood victims is severe—some have no shelter, farmland is damaged, livestock have died—yet some people are celebrating the birthday happily, leaving the public in distress, which she deemed inappropriate. 'The Prime Minister’s claim that he went to Buriram to set up a command center is merely an excuse,' she stated. 'Everyone knows the command center was established on his birthday, and he ignored the people’s suffering under the storms and floods while enjoying himself, trampling on their misery.' When asked about Nevin’s wish for Anutin to remain prime minister for another two terms, Nantana said that who becomes prime minister should come from public consensus, not from individuals declaring how long someone will stay in power. To speak that way shows they have achieved monopolistic control over the country, allowing them to overrule the public’s will.
