Bangkok International Film Festival 2026 Opens with Global Celebration

The Bangkok International Film Festival 2026 (BKKIFF 2026) officially launched between September 13-27, 2026, with an opening ceremony at River Park in ICONSIAM drawing distinguished guests including ambassadors, filmmakers, directors, actors, producers, and industry professionals from Thailand and worldwide. The festival brings together films, creators, and international partners for exchange and collaboration.

Organized under the theme 'Connecting Stories, Creating Opportunities,' the festival positions cinema as a meeting ground connecting people, cultures, creativity, and industry, while creating opportunities for filmmakers and professionals from diverse nations to meet, exchange views, build networks, and pursue future collaborations.

Culture Minister Sabidah Thaisetra delivered remarks highlighting the importance of the Bangkok International Film Festival as a platform bringing filmmakers, industry professionals, and audiences from Thailand and worldwide together to celebrate the art of cinema and foster international film community relationships and cooperation.

Throughout the festival, audiences will experience over 150 films from around the world screening September 13-27, 2026 at leading Bangkok cinemas including ICON CINECONIC, PARAGON CINEPLEX, SF WORLD CINEMA, HOUSE SAMYAN, and DOC CLUB & FRIENDS, exposing Thai viewers to diverse international films, cultures, and creative perspectives.

Beyond screenings, BKKIFF 2026 features various activities spanning film, culture, professional development, and business. September 14-15 includes the BKKIFF Celebrity Tour, where international actors and film professionals visit important sites in Bangkok and Ayutthaya to learn Thai history, architecture, traditions, and cultural identity.

The Suratsawadi Gala Night on September 16 honors Thai and international actors, celebrating their achievements and supporting the film community in partnership with the Thai Actors Association. A Director Night by the Thai Film Directors Association celebrates the work of frontline and behind-the-scenes talent while creating networking space.

On September 20, the UNMUTE activity by the Thai Sound Creators Association provides workshops, performances, and networking exploring sound work as a crucial film element. September 23-26 features SONG WAT RAMA activities in the Thonglor area, marking BKKIFF's first expansion into this neighborhood.
