Body Found Floating Under Bangkok Bridge in Chao Phraya River
A 35-year-old man from Chiang Mai was found floating face-down in the Chao Phraya River beneath Bangkok Bridge, estimated to have been dead for over two days. Police recovered his identification cards and are awaiting autopsy results to determine the cause of death. Efforts are underway to notify his relatives and release the body for funeral arrangements.
At 11:26 a.m. on October 12, 2026, Police Lieutenant Vissarut Banditkajorn, deputy inspector of investigations at Bang Khlo Police Station, received a report of a body floating in the Chao Phraya River beneath Bangkok Bridge, heading toward Bukkhalo Pier. He proceeded to the scene with forensic doctors from Siriraj Hospital, volunteers from the Ruamkatanyu Foundation, and other officials. Officers deployed a patrol boat and found a male body floating face-down in the river, wearing only brown long pants, black canvas shoes, and a brown cap tucked into his belt. The body was retrieved and taken to the Bang Khlo police pier for examination. A black card holder was found on the body containing an ID card, a fuel-points card, and two ATM cards, which were collected as evidence. The deceased was identified as Anuchat (surname withheld), 35, from Chiang Mai Province. Initial external examination showed no signs of physical trauma; the body's condition indicated death had occurred more than 48 hours ago. Authorities await the forensic autopsy results from Siriraj Hospital's Institute of Forensic Medicine to determine the exact cause of death. After the inspection, the body was handed over to Ruamkatanyu volunteers for transport to the Siriraj Forensic Institute for a detailed autopsy, while police continue to locate and interview the man's relatives to gather background information and arrange for the body to be released for religious rites. Anyone who suspects the deceased may be a relative can contact Bang Khlo Police Station or the Siriraj Forensic Institute for verification and assistance.
