Body of 33-Year-Old Woman Found Floating in Chao Phraya River
A 33-year-old woman's decomposed body was found floating in Bangkok's Chao Phraya River near Rama VIII Bridge on September 11, with preliminary findings suggesting she died at least 48 hours earlier.
At 7:30 a.m. on September 11, 2025, Pak Khlong San Station police received a report of a body floating in the Chao Phraya River near the pier beneath Rama VIII Bridge in Wat Kalaya subdistrict, Thonburi District, Bangkok. Officers and volunteers from the Ruam Katanyu Foundation arrived with a forensic doctor from Siriraj Hospital to investigate.
At the scene, officials found a woman's body floating face-down in the river, bloated and decomposed. She was wearing a long-sleeved black shirt, three-quarter length black jeans, and black socks. Rescue volunteers brought the body out of the water for examination. Initial findings included identity documents such as a national ID card, driver's license, ATM card, and a mobile phone, allowing authorities to confirm her identity.
The deceased was 33 years old. Later, her 64-year-old father arrived at the scene and confirmed the body was his daughter. He revealed that she lived with her boyfriend in Nakhon Ratchasima Province and visited him in Bangkok approximately twice a month to help and support him, as she had no regular income.
The father stated he previously knew only that his daughter had arguments with her boyfriend but was unaware of the details or causes. When she visited Bangkok, she appeared normal and showed no obvious signs of distress, though relatives had noticed she seemed withdrawn, leading them to suspect she may have been troubled by something.
These details remain preliminary family accounts and assumptions and have not been confirmed as connected to her death. Preliminary examination by doctors and police found no wound marks or evidence of physical abuse. Based on the body's condition, she is estimated to have died at least 48 hours before discovery.
Police and forensic officials have arranged for rescue volunteers to transport the body to the Institute of Forensic Medicine at Siriraj Hospital for detailed autopsy to determine the cause of death before proceeding with legal procedures. The body will then be released to her family for religious rites.
