Companies Destroy 2 Billion Baht in Counterfeit Goods
Thailand destroyed over 2 billion baht in counterfeit goods in 2025, a 36% increase from the previous year, with seized items including fake medicines, clothing, and electronics processed through specialized facilities in Ayutthaya and Samu
Better World Green Public Company Limited (BWG) and Accuprakan Public Company Limited (AKP) supported the government's 2025 ceremony to destroy seized counterfeit goods in intellectual property infringement cases, organized by the Department of Intellectual Property under the Ministry of Commerce in coordination with the Royal Thai Police, the Customs Department, and the Department of Special Investigation (DSI).
Executives from both companies attended the event, led by Akrawit Kanthkaew, deputy chairman of BWG, Supawat Kunworawit, chief executive officer of Earth Tech Environment Public Company Limited, and Wanchai Luengviriya, chief executive officer of Accuprakan. The companies demonstrated their commitment to breaking the cycle of counterfeit goods in a transparent manner consistent with international standards.
In 2025, a total of 2,085,705 counterfeit items worth more than 2,145 million baht were destroyed—a 36.45% increase from the previous year. The seized goods included consumer products, clothing, bags, electronic equipment, automotive parts, and sensitive items such as counterfeit medicines, pharmaceuticals, and cosmetics. The companies were entrusted with managing the entire disposal process under ISO 14001:2015 environmental management standards.
Non-hazardous goods such as clothing, bags, shoes, and decorative items are sent to the alternative energy center at the Nakhon Luang Industrial Estate in Nakhon Luang District, Ayutthaya Province, where they are crushed and destroyed completely to prevent reuse or resale. The destroyed materials are then processed into refuse-derived fuel (RDF) and sent directly via conveyor belt to Recovery House Power Plant, part of Earth Tech Environment Public Company Limited.
Hazardous items including chemicals, counterfeit medicines, pharmaceuticals, and cosmetics are sent to Accuprakan's hazardous waste incinerator facility at the Bang Pu Industrial Estate in Samut Prakan Province. The facility uses specialized high-temperature incineration technology operating at 1,000–1,200 degrees Celsius with air pollution control systems and real-time air quality monitoring (CEMS), ensuring complete combustion with no harmful residue, odor, or environmental or community impact.
Akrawit Kanthkaew stated that the company group prioritizes transparency at every step. The crushing and destruction process at the Nakhon Luang center is tightly controlled and recorded, with every item completely destroyed before being processed into RDF fuel. This represents proper waste management and environmental value creation.
