Cambodian media outlets are fuming over the arrest of prominent Cambodian boxer Gaga Paeminburi, also known as Sok Thi, who was nabbed again on drug charges. The fighter had previously spent years boxing and working in Thailand before being arrested by Khok Kham police at a gas station on Rama Intra Soi 40 in 2023, found with methamphetamine pills and earning him the moniker "Gaga 5 Pills." After that incident, he reportedly returned to Cambodia and has since made multiple attacks on Thai Muay Thai on social media.

Recently, Nippon Khaoubbon, a Thai Muay Thai commentator and media figure, revealed that Gaka was arrested again in Cambodia on similar drug charges. However, some Cambodian news outlets have taken the opportunity to blame Thai coaches, claiming they encouraged his drug use. This has sparked a dispute, with Thai Muay Thai insiders rejecting the assertion as baseless.

Lawmaker Urges Election Commission to Probe Orange Group Directly

A Thai lawmaker urged the Election Commission to use its legal authority to directly investigate the Orange Group without waiting for a formal complaint, citing Article 41 of the 2017 Election Commission Act that requires probes when there'

Lawmaker Urges Election Commission to Probe Orange Group Directly
29 Jul Khaosod

On July 29, 2025, Suphachai Jaisamut, a list-based MP from Palang Pracharath Party, posted on Facebook responding to an academic's challenge regarding the 'Orange Group.' He clarified that the Election Commission has the legal power to initiate investigations on its own, even without a complaint, if there are reasonable grounds for suspicion or evidence that an election may not be conducted fairly and honestly.

He cited Article 41 of the 2017 Organic Act on the Election Commission, which states that "when there is reasonable suspicion or evidence apparent to the Commission in any manner, whether or not there is an informant or complainant… the Commission is required to conduct an investigation or examination to ascertain facts and evidence promptly."

According to Suphachai, this article contains two key principles: (1) no complainant is necessary—the EC may learn of violations through news, media, state agencies, official reports, or any other information, and if there are reasonable grounds and sufficient data, it must initiate an investigation; and (2) it is a duty, not discretion—the law uses the language "is required to conduct," meaning the EC cannot ignore reasonable suspicion.

Suphachai explained that "ex officio power" is a Latin legal term meaning "by virtue of office" or "by right of one's position," referring to authority granted by law to an organization or official to act on its own without requiring a complaint, accuser, or victim to file a request first.

If the EC observes a gathering organized by the "Prachaachon Group" or "Orange Group," it has the legal authority to investigate whether the 300 candidates who attended had their meals, meeting room rentals, travel costs, flights, and accommodations paid by others, and who funded them. The EC can also investigate whether the selection of those senators at all levels—from district to national—involved vote-buying or fraud.

Suphachai urged the EC to act quickly under Article 41 and offered to file a formal complaint himself, stating he has evidence ready.

Trat FC Folds After Missing League Licensing Deadline

Trat FC has folded after failing to meet licensing deadlines for Thai League competition, joining two other eastern Thailand clubs in dissolving this season and leaving League 3 with just 11 teams.

Trat FC Folds After Missing League Licensing Deadline
29 Jul Khaosod

Trat FC, a former Thai League competitor from eastern Thailand, appears poised to fold after demonstrating no activity and failing to submit club licensing documentation to enter competition. The once-prominent club had previously competed in the Thai League professional system before dropping down the divisions in recent years. Latest reports confirm that Trat FC will not participate in Thai League 3 after previously failing to submit licensing for Thai League 2. Although the Thai Football Association attempted to encourage the club to enter League 3, no movement has occurred, with the club's social media pages also showing no activity since May, suggesting a permanent exit. This leaves the eastern zone of League 3 in turmoil this season, with three teams now dissolved or suspended—including Sai Mit Kabinburi and Ban Kha United—reducing the division to just 11 competing teams. The association has been unable to recruit replacement teams from the semi-professional league due to many clubs failing to meet licensing requirements.

Insurance Customer Assaults Claims Adjuster at Police Station

A man assaulted an insurance claims adjuster at Saiyai police station on July 29 after the adjuster denied his car accident claim just hours after he purchased a new policy, citing suspicion over the timing.

Insurance Customer Assaults Claims Adjuster at Police Station
29 Jul Khaosod

On July 29, 2026, at Saiyai police station, a man admitted to assaulting an insurance claims adjuster and apologized publicly, explaining that his anger and frustration stemmed from the adjuster's denial of his insurance claim.

The incident began when the man, identified as Mr. Wordorn (surname withheld), purchased comprehensive car insurance online around 10:00 a.m., paying the first installment of 1,900 baht with coverage effective immediately. That evening between 5:00 and 6:00 p.m., while driving, he was involved in a reversing collision with a pickup truck at a U-turn point. He called the insurance company to dispatch a claims adjuster for standard damage assessment.

When claims adjuster Mr. Pornchai (surname withheld) arrived, he photographed the damage and requested documents and driver's licenses from both parties. However, after speaking with his supervisor for approximately five minutes, the adjuster became evasive, stalling and acting suspiciously. He questioned whether the collision actually occurred and expressed skepticism about how a new policy taken out in the morning could result in an accident the same evening.

Mr. Wordorn attempted to confirm the incident was genuine and offered clear photographs of fresh damage marks, requesting to speak directly with the supervisor, but was refused. The adjuster then drove away from the scene.

Frustrated, Mr. Wordorn called the insurance company's call center, where he was advised to settle the matter with the adjuster in person. When the adjuster scheduled a meeting at Saiyai police station, Mr. Wordorn, overwhelmed by anger at what he felt was unjust denial of service, lost control and punched the adjuster upon arrival. The adjuster kicked back before police intervened and separated them. Mr. Wordorn later learned he had been charged with assault.

After the incident, Mr. Wordorn continued attempting to contact the insurance company and was instructed to email damage photographs for a 15-day inspection period. He maintains his innocence regarding insurance fraud or staging the accident, noting all damage was fresh and recent. He stated he is prepared to pay repair costs himself if the claim is ultimately denied.

Mr. Wordorn criticized the adjuster for exceeding his professional authority and causing great disappointment, especially as a long-time customer of many years. He announced he would cancel his insurance upon resolution of the matter.

Nevertheless, Mr. Wordorn acknowledged that using violence to resolve disputes is wrong and apologized for the entire incident.

Chakrit's Son Diagnosed With Three Rare Conditions
29 Jul Khaosod

Ann Pattira, wife of prominent actor Chakrit Yamnam, has released an update on her son Phi Pothi's serious illness. The boy has been diagnosed with three simultaneous conditions: mycoplasma bronchitis, Kawasaki fever, and MIS-C (multisystem inflammatory syndrome in children)—an extremely rare case occurring in fewer than 5% of patients. His parents were devastated by the severity of his condition.

In her post, Ann wrote: "Phi Pothi is now safe, but he must remain in the hospital for continued observation. I apologize for canceling his two scheduled events and for disappointing his fans who had registered to meet him. Phi Pothi has been diagnosed with mycoplasma bronchitis, high fever from Kawasaki disease, and MIS-C all at once—a case so rare that it's almost never seen or found in fewer than 5% of patients. His condition is quite severe and difficult. At that time, we as parents could barely stand, but we had to be strong to get through everything. Thank you to everyone who has shown concern and sent encouragement through every channel. My condition as a mother hasn't been ready to answer questions these past few days."

Following Ann's latest update, Phi Pothi has passed the critical danger phase but continues to stay in the hospital for close observation. He has received an outpouring of support and well-wishes from fans and entertainment industry colleagues hoping for his swift recovery.

29 Jul Khaosod

Thai nationals in Georgia are joining forces to search for Huluun Solow, a prominent travel YouTuber who has lost contact with her family for roughly two weeks, with growing fears she may have entered Abkhazia, a special autonomous territory. Georgian state authorities confirmed they are conducting a full-scale investigation.

On July 29, 2025, Vanich Niiwong, also known as Odd Jetski, a tourist from Nakhon Ratchasima currently traveling in Georgia, disclosed details about Huluun Solow's disappearance. The tourist community learned of the case through social media posts and alerts that circulated widely, triggering alarm among Thai travelers and residents in Georgia. Everyone expressed deep concern. Thai tourists and businesspeople held discussions over coffee to coordinate help, but when they contacted her brother, he had no information about her content creation plans, making it harder for people in the area to assist the search.

Vanich stated that Georgian state authorities are now acting with full vigor, focusing on clues provided by Thai nationals and Huluun Solow's most recent social media posts. Sutin Saeoung, a Thai businessman who operates tour services in Georgia, is acting as a liaison with the YouTuber's relatives and has begun maintaining a daily log of the search. No further updates have been released. The major concern now is whether Huluun has traveled into Abkhazia, a special autonomous region, which would greatly complicate efforts to locate her.
