Thai musician Ad Carabao (Yuenyong Opakul) shared his first experience using Thailand's Gold Card health insurance, speaking highly of the government program and urging its continuation. On September 16 at a press conference for the Maliehuana music festival's 16th anniversary, Ad recounted how he developed severe insomnia after abruptly quitting cannabis oil and decided to seek treatment at Chiang Rai Prachanukroh Hospital. Initially, he was quoted an additional 300 baht for arriving after 4 p.m., but once the doctor recognized him, the process became seamless, and he was thoroughly examined, given quality medication, and discovered the Gold Card covered his costs.
Ad admitted he didn't initially know what the Gold Card was, but after using it, he studied the program and found it excellent, though he suggested the government should also support doctors' livelihoods. He praised the doctor's meticulous examination, detailed questions about his medical history, and professional care. At 72 years old, Ad said he recovered fully and is ready for the music festival, encouraging other Thais not to hesitate using the Gold Card and state hospital services, as the treatment and medicine quality are genuinely good. He reflected that his near-death experience in the past changed his outlook on life, making him more compassionate and determined to find happiness in his remaining years by helping others.
