Chulalongkorn University Opens Learning Corner Bookshop Cafe

Chulalongkorn University Book Center has launched "Learning Corner @ Chulabook Cafe" at its Siam Square branch, a new learning space designed to transform the bookshop and cafe into more than a place to read or relax. The space serves as a venue for meeting, exchanging knowledge, creative ideas, and experiences among the university, students, academics, and the general public, promoting the concept of lifelong learning. The opening ceremony was presided over by Associate Professor Sithidetch Phongkijwrosin, Vice President of Chulalongkorn University, alongside Kriang Sak Hansawek, manager of Chulabook Center.

Associate Professor Sithidetch emphasized that Chulalongkorn University Book Center prioritizes creating an environment conducive to intellectual growth. The space is designed as a "Space for Exchange," welcoming people from different fields, ages, and backgrounds to meet, discuss, and learn together. He noted that modern learning extends beyond the classroom, emerging instead through dialogue, questioning, and the exchange of perspectives in everyday life.

A key highlight was a panel discussion titled "Winner Mindset: Life Cheat Codes for Keen Learners," led by Phupha Amorkit, author of the book "Winner Mindset." A Cambridge University alumnus, he shared his learning experiences and personal development insights, including lessons from taking the IELTS exam fourteen times, demonstrating that success stems not from ability alone but from consistency and learning from mistakes. Chulalongkorn students also shared their experiences, including Bright Surawit Teturantanakun, a fourth-year engineering student, who discussed time management and soft skills development. New Tawan Kamyodsaeng, a first-year pharmacy student from the Chula Rural Program, spoke about finding educational opportunities and stepping outside one's comfort zone, emphasizing that confusion signals choice and that taking action clarifies one's path.

Another significant feature was the presentation of "Cocoa Nan," showcasing how university knowledge has been extended to community development and real consumer products. Associate Professor Thanyasibhorn Na Nan, director of the International Sustainable Tropical Cocoa Center at Chulalongkorn's Integrated Faculty of Agriculture, discussed applying knowledge, quality control, and food science to improve cocoa quality in Nan Province. This reflects the "Research to Retail" concept, connecting university research, community, and consumers.

Moving forward, Learning Corner will host diverse learning and exchange activities, including meetings with writers, academics, students, and experienced professionals across various fields to foster ongoing dialogue and new ideas. Visitors can experience the Learning Corner atmosphere and enjoy menus inspired by the "Cocoa Nan" innovation and other beverages at Chulabook Cafe, Siam Square.
