Mahachulalongkorn Uni Celebrates 139 Years, Announces 8 Policies
Mahachulalongkornrajavidyalaya University marked its 139th anniversary with a ceremony in Ayutthaya that honored King Chulalongkorn’s legacy and unveiled eight new policies. The policies aim to preserve the university’s Buddhist identity while advancing modernity, technology, internationalization, and good governance. Officials said the framework will guide the institution’s development into a modern Buddhist university.
The ceremony marked the university’s 139th year since its founding, reinforcing King Chulalongkorn’s vision of a modern Buddhist institution. President Phrommarach Vajirateeracharn introduced eight strategic policies: establishing a Temple University atmosphere, developing a green campus, fostering a lifelong learning community, applying Buddhist innovations for social good, expanding international ties, upgrading IT systems for AI readiness, strengthening network partnerships with measurable outcomes, and ensuring good governance across finance, academics, and administration. Vice President for Planning and Development Prasart Chantasaro explained that these policies aim to steer Mahachulalongkorn toward becoming a contemporary Buddhist university that links its traditional mission with global higher‑education trends. The celebration included a royal tribute to King Chulalongkorn, awards for knowledge management and outstanding research, and presentations by campus leaders to disseminate the policies university‑wide.
