Thai Windsurfers Win Two Bronze Medals at Asian Games
Thai windsurfers William McMillan and Chanatkan Charoensuk each won bronze medals at the Asian Games in Nagoya, Japan. Light wind conditions limited competition, with only one race held on the final day. The team finished with two bronzes across the IQ Foil events.
The Thai windsurfing team collected two bronze medals at the 20th Asian Games in Nagoya, Japan. William McMillan, a Thai-Australian athlete, competed in the men's IQ Foil open category, completing 11 races with 25 penalty points to claim bronze. Chanatkan Charoensuk, aged 16, raced in the women's IQ Foil under-19 category, also completing 11 races with 27 penalty points for her bronze medal. Gold in the women's under-19 event went to Chung Chi Yit of Hong Kong (9 penalty points), with silver to Akari Oshima of Japan (17 penalty points). In the men's under-19 IQ Foil category, Wat Chachirawit Thanop finished sixth with 43 penalty points over 11 races. The open category had no medal race due to weather; McMillan's bronze stood as the final result. The women's open IQ Foil saw Siriporn Kaewduangngam place sixth after 10 races with 43 penalty points. The Thai team was led by manager Ek Boonsawat, coach Sakda Sukulfaeng, and coach Natthaphong Phoenoparat. Overall, Thailand secured two bronze medals at the games.
