Classmates Reveal Shooter Sought Thai Teacher Over Grade
A student opened fire at a school building on August 8, 2026, searching for a Thai language teacher who had given him a failing grade despite his previous good academic standing.
Classmates are gradually providing police with information about the young person who opened fire at a school building. On August 8, 2026, reporters learned that the perpetrator was searching for a Thai language teacher who was not in class that day. The teacher had reportedly given the shooter a grade of 0 in Thai, despite the student having previously maintained good overall academic standing.
Authorities have also learned that the perpetrator's grandmother was a former teacher and may have been upset about the grade situation. Investigators are examining whether the grade dispute and teacher conflict were factors in the attack.
After the initial incident at Building 5, the perpetrator ran to the fourth floor of Building 4 to search for the Thai language teacher. Upon not finding him, the perpetrator showed signs of distress and fired three shots into the air before the fatal event occurred.
At 11:26 a.m., a classmate came forward to provide additional details. When reporters asked about "Teacher A" (a pseudonym), whom the perpetrator had been seeking, the student confirmed the teacher is real and teaches Thai language. The student was uncertain whether the teacher had taught the previous day.
Another male student who was present at the scene later came forward to investigators, confirming that the perpetrator had indeed been searching for Teacher A, a Thai language instructor. This student stated that the perpetrator had received a 0 in Thai language—the first time this had happened. Previously, while the perpetrator's Thai language grades had not been outstanding, he had never failed the subject. The student reported that the perpetrator had complained to friends, saying "I submitted all my assignments, but I don't understand why my grade still couldn't be corrected." Several classmates have continued to provide statements to investigators.
