Court Rejects Complaint Against NBTC Chair Over Qualification Dispute
The Central Administrative Court rejected NBTC Chair Sopon Bunyabunchaipruk's challenge to a disqualification ruling, upholding the selection committee's finding that he lacks legal qualifications for the position.
On 25 September 2025 at the Central Administrative Court on Chaengwattana Road, the court held its first hearing at 11:00 a.m. and delivered its judgment at 3:00 p.m. The case involved Sopon Bunyabunchaipruk, chair of the NBTC, who filed a lawsuit against the NBTC selection committee seeking to overturn Resolution No. 1/2569 dated 21 July 2025, which had ruled that Sopon possessed legal disqualifications and lacked qualifications to serve as an NBTC commissioner. At 3:00 p.m., the Central Administrative Court issued its judgment dismissing Sopon's case, determining that he does have legal disqualifications and finding that the selection committee acted procedurally in accordance with the law. The court offered Sopon an opportunity to provide clarification, but rather than doing so, he contested the committee's impartiality. The court found evidence of compensation received that resulted in a genuine lack of qualifications.
