Ministry Mobilizes Aid for 252 Workers After Factory Closure

The Labour Ministry has mobilized emergency assistance for 252 workers impacted by the closure of Thai Yi Hng Ceramic Company Limited in Nakhon Phanom province. The factory ceased operations after facing a liquidity crisis stemming from a shortage of new purchase orders since early 2569, with some existing orders returned. Labour Ministry spokesperson Piphatchai Phibulyong, accompanied by ministry working committee members Charat Khoomkhainum and Sutheep Uon, travelled to Na Thom district office on 25 September under orders from Labour Minister Julphand Amorwiwat to monitor the situation and accelerate assistance delivery.

The company, which manufactures ceramic products with headquarters in Samut Prakan province, operated the Na Thom facility as a branch. From early 2569 until the closure announcement on 18 August, the company received no new orders and faced the return of some inventory, triggering the financial crisis. The ministry is expediting worker claims using the standard form (Kor.7) to enforce legal rights, processing unemployment benefits, and requiring employer disclosure of facts. If the employer fails to comply with inspection orders, the ministry will issue directives for compensation, wages, and other legal entitlements, with further legal action if needed.

August wages totalling approximately 2.5 million baht remain unpaid; the company has committed to settling these by 30 September, with close monitoring by the Labour Ministry. To date, 186 workers have filed claims. Unemployment benefits are projected to average approximately 5,780 baht monthly for six months, depending on individual wage bases and insurance status. The ministry will also expedite assistance grants from the employee welfare fund and coordinate job placement and skills development to help affected workers return to employment quickly.
