Democrat Party Warns 3-Day No-Confidence Debate Undermines Oversight
Democrat Party spokesperson Duangsutha Bua-kaew criticized the government's push to limit the no-confidence debate to three days, saying it undermines parliamentary oversight and is akin to a suspect restricting a police search. She noted that 18 officials, including the prime minister and ministers, are set to be debated and warned the move gives the government an advantage while depriving the public of full information.
Duangsutha Bua-kaew, deputy spokesperson for the Democrat Party, stated that the government's attempt to confine the no-confidence debate to three days is unreasonable when compared to the number of officials involved and the substantive issues at stake. She argued that such a limitation allows the administration to avoid detailed explanations and evade accountability, directly affecting citizens' right to receive complete facts, evidence, and testimony. The spokesperson reiterated that the tactic resembles a suspect restricting a police search to a mere formality, which contradicts democratic principles of transparency and oversight.
