On September 26, Deputy Prime Minister Yotsanan Wongswat inspected operations at the Rangsit Canal mouth semi-permanent pump station to monitor Royal Irrigation Department work and strengthen coordination with Bangkok authorities in managing water and mitigating flooding. The facility serves as a critical hub protecting two strategic areas: Pathum Thani province—covering Thanyaburi, Khlong Luang, and Lam Luk Ka districts plus Lik Hok subdistrict—and northern Bangkok through the Praem Prachakon Canal junction with Don Mueang district.
The pump station receives water from lateral canals 1-8 of the Rangsit-Prayu Sakti system and discharges it through the Chulalongkorn water gate into the Chao Phraya River. Currently operating at 78 cubic meters per second, the facility has 20 pumps with a combined maximum capacity of 120 cubic meters per second. The Irrigation Department plans conservative operation at 90 cubic meters per second using 14-15 pumps (70-75% of capacity) to preserve machinery and maintain emergency reserves.
Station staff confirmed 24/7 operation with technicians on standby to address any equipment failures immediately. Yotsanan issued urgent orders to all overseeing agencies, particularly irrigation units, to coordinate emergency relief across the northern region as heavy rainfall is forecast for the next 1-2 days. The directive emphasized rapid and efficient delivery of assistance to affected communities through systematic, integrated response efforts.
