Rangsit Pumps at Full Capacity as Floodwaters Rise Near Critical Level

Rangsit Municipality is closely monitoring water levels in the Rangsit Prayursakdi Canal, where water near the Red Bridge has risen nearly to the critical red line. Large-scale pumping stations are operating at maximum capacity to rapidly discharge water into the Chao Phraya River.

On September 25, reporters documented the situation at the canal embankment near the Red Bridge in Prachatipat Subdistrict, Thanyaburi District, Pathum Thani Province. The municipality has deployed heavy machinery and mobile water-pumping trucks positioned on-site to prevent overflow and residential flooding.

Water levels in the canal have risen dangerously close to the critical threshold, forcing the municipality to raise the warning alert to orange flag status. This alert urges residents in risk areas to prepare for potential flooding and immediately move belongings to higher ground.

At the Chulalongkorn Water Gate pumping station, operators have activated large pumps at full capacity to continuously discharge water toward the Chao Phraya River. Backup pumping units have also been installed at the gatehouse to reinforce drainage capacity and handle emergency situations if rainfall accumulates further. Staff are conducting 24-hour monitoring and equipment checks.

Wirawat Phasom, director of the Lower Rangsit Water Supply and Maintenance Project, disclosed that current water levels are approximately 50 centimeters below the severe flooding threshold recorded in 2022 (green line marker). The Irrigation Department is accelerating water drainage efforts. Coordinated meetings are planned with provincial and municipal leaders to integrate operations and develop a comprehensive plan for monitoring water levels in the Rangsit Canal system and all vulnerable areas throughout Rangsit Municipality.
