Volunteers Rush Aid to Flood-Hit Sakon Nakhon Communities
Volunteers distributed nearly 500 meal packages and relocated vulnerable residents as floods damaged around 300 homes across Sakon Nakhon Province, with relief teams maintaining round-the-clock operations.
Wirasak Kovsuratana, secretary-general of the Friend Support Foundation under the Thai Red Cross, reported on relief operations in Sakon Nakhon Province on September 24. Water levels continued to rise, damaging around 300 homes across the province. The foundation's disaster response team met with Sakon Nakhon Governor Panya Potthisat to coordinate response efforts.
The foundation has distributed 480 ready-to-eat meal packages to affected residents across three communities: 40 packages to Soi Ruamjai Patthana community, 90 packages to Ban Kok Khao Neiao, and 350 packages to Ban Thabmai in Noen Mak Kaeng district, Wat Thannanakhon subdistrict. Emergency teams also assisted two bedridden patients in Ban Thabmai by relocating them to a temporary shelter at the Tambon Thabmai Health Promotion Hospital.
Volunteers are maintaining 24-hour operations in affected areas to monitor conditions and provide immediate evacuation and emergency assistance. The foundation continues coordinating with local authorities to ensure rapid and comprehensive aid coverage throughout the province.
