The Energy Ministry is mobilizing equipment and personnel to search for an oil leak in the drainage pipe system along Fuel Road and under Rama III Bridge in its second day of operations. Ms. Titipat Chotidechachainanth, secretary to the Energy Minister, visited the site to monitor progress and coordinate with contractors to accelerate excavation work and locate the source of the leak for quick resolution.
Additional excavations conducted today revealed contaminated water flowing from an old drainage pipe, prompting officials to order simultaneous drilling in nearby areas to identify the primary source of ongoing oil leakage. The ministry is mobilizing all available resources, equipment, and advanced technology to locate any additional leaks as rapidly as possible.
Officials assess that multiple factors may have caused the leak, including the oil pipeline running beneath railway tracks, potential damage from nearby park improvement projects, and surrounding construction work. Energy Minister Eknath Prom Phan has given this situation high priority, ordering continuous field monitoring and coordination with contractors to expedite inspection and repair efforts. Operations are running 24 hours a day with comprehensive safety systems in place throughout the inspection process.
