Environment Minister Suchat Chomkling has ordered the Pollution Control Department to urgently investigate reports of suspicious material resembling chemical waste and electronic waste dumped near a water source in Village 9, Nong Prueо District, Panasnikhom, Chachoengsao Province. If hazardous waste is confirmed, the department will take legal action against the landowner under the Hazardous Substance Act and coordinate with relevant agencies to prosecute those responsible. Dr. Surin Vorrakitthmarang, the Pollution Control Department director, announced that officials will thoroughly examine the materials and, if confirmed as hazardous waste, will take strict enforcement action while working to prevent environmental and health impacts.
The case emerged on September 19, 2026, when residents of Village 9 reported to their village headman that suspicious material resembling chemical sludge and electronic waste had been dumped near a water source. The Panasnikhom District Officer immediately ordered an inspection and cordoned off the site to prevent further movement of materials, while coordinating with the Provincial Industry Office for additional investigation. According to preliminary questioning, the landowner stated he had purchased the materials at 2,000 baht per truckload, transported by three trailer trucks, intending to sort and sell recyclables while landfilling the remainder. Upon learning the activity may violate environmental laws, he agreed to stop and await official investigation.
The Pollution Control Region 13 Office will coordinate with Chachoengsao Province's Natural Resources and Environmental Office and relevant agencies to identify the materials, assess environmental impacts, and pursue legal action. The Pollution Control Department emphasized that hazardous waste and electrical and electronic waste must be managed according to proper scientific standards to prevent contamination of soil, water, and the broader environment.
