Ex-Deputy PM Files Report Over Impersonation Threat to Actress
A former deputy prime minister filed a report with investigators after an unknown man impersonated him to threaten actress Khwan Usamani at a Bangkok park, which Somphong Amornwivat denied any involvement in.
On September 14, 2025, at 3:00 p.m., Somphong Amornwivat, a former deputy prime minister and former minister of multiple portfolios, met with investigators at the Central Investigation Bureau's complaint center to file charges against an unknown man who allegedly used his name to threaten and harass actress Khwan Usamani while she was exercising at Benjakitti Park.
Somphong said he learned of the incident from news reports that morning and decided to file a complaint with the Central Investigation Bureau, which has nationwide investigative authority. He firmly denied knowing the man involved and stated he had no connection whatsoever to the incident.
"I have been in politics for over 30 years, and the public knows my name well. Having someone impersonate me in this manner has caused me harm, which is why I came to file this report to show my innocence and to assure the actress that I have no involvement," Somphong said.
Regarding news linking the case to a separate incident involving actress Nida Patcharaveerapong, Somphong stated he has never followed or been informed of details about that matter due to his busy work schedule.
