Ex-Mayor Claims Government Minister Heads Local Exam Fraud Ring

Prawit, a former subdistrict administrator and ex-parliamentary candidate from Sisaket known as 'Mayor Heng,' has brought key witnesses to the Anti-Corruption Division with financial evidence linking two DSI officials to a sprawling local exam corruption scheme. Prawit was arrested in August over allegations of extorting money from civil service exam candidates but was granted bail. On September 4, 2025, the ACD summoned him to provide additional testimony after discovering he holds crucial case evidence. According to sources close to Prawit, police changed the meeting location from the ACD headquarters. Prawit is expected to present financial transaction records and the names of individuals connected to the case, specifically two DSI officials, which would link to 'Dr. Win' and Police Major Phichit, two suspects currently detained in Bangkok's special detention facility. This evidence is expected to clearly reveal connections to the mastermind orchestrating the corruption network. Prawit also brought a key witness close to the two DSI officials who can testify about their links to the mastermind. The witness will reportedly confirm that one DSI official attended school with Police Major Phichit. Sources indicated that the mastermind behind the local exam fraud network ranks higher than the director general already facing charges. When asked whether the figure holds ministerial rank, sources confirmed the person is a current government minister. Prawit's legal representatives argue he did not participate in the corruption scheme and did not benefit financially, but rather pursued the case after his subordinate was defrauded by the network. They claim his arrest is politically motivated and a form of harassment.
