At the 75-Year Building of Surin Central Hospital in Muang Surin District, this reporter met the family of Bhat Janmia, 33, from Kasetwisai District in Roi Et Province, who suffered from kidney disease and had his kidneys deteriorate. After suffering from the condition for six years and undergoing treatment, his kidneys ceased to function normally, requiring peritoneal dialysis starting in 2020. This led to the first successful kidney transplant from father to son at Surin Central Hospital.
Narong Janmia, 55, the father, was moved by compassion for his son and decided to give his life a new chance by donating one of his kidneys. The family discussed and coordinated with the medical team at Srinakharinwirot Hospital, Khon Kaen University, before working with Surin Hospital's medical personnel to successfully perform the surgery and kidney transplant.
The father, Narong, could not hold back his tears and revealed that his son suffered from kidney disease that led to kidney failure. As a father, he wanted to give his son a new life, so he discussed it with his family before deciding to proceed with the kidney transplant, which was successful. Though it was painful, he felt it was giving his son a new life. He expressed gratitude to the medical personnel at both Surin Hospital and Srinakharinwirot Hospital, Khon Kaen University, for making the kidney transplant from father to son successful.
Meanwhile, the mother, Lek, 52, said that her son previously suffered from kidney failure and had insomnia for a long time. They had treated the kidney disease for many years until her husband felt compassion for their son and discussed it with the family before contacting Srinakharinwirot Hospital, Khon Kaen University. They then worked with Surin Hospital to successfully perform the kidney transplant for their son. She thanked the staff and medical personnel of both hospitals.
Rattanapon Pong Tho, 32, the wife of Bhat, said that before the kidney transplant, her husband had suffered from chronic kidney disease for about ten years and had kidney failure, requiring dialysis every day. When the father-in-law felt compassion for his son, he spoke with the family and contacted Srinakharinwirot Hospital, Khon Kaen University. They then worked together with Surin Hospital to successfully perform the kidney transplant from father to son.
After the kidney transplant, Bhat's condition improved progressively. He could urinate and had a better quality of life than before treatment. The family expressed their gratitude to the medical personnel at both Surin Hospital and Srinakharinwirot Hospital, Khon Kaen University, for giving Bhat a second chance and a new life.
