Former Teacher Found Dead in Abandoned House After 10 Years
Skeletal remains of a retired teacher were discovered in an abandoned house near Chachoengsao after a decade, found during a police investigation following a reported burglary attempt.
Police discovered human skeletal remains inside an abandoned two-story house near Chachoengsao Provincial Bus Station on Chachoengsao-Bangpakong Road in Muang Chachoengsao District on September 22, 2026, at 12:30 p.m. Deputy Investigator Chetsadyanin Niamkeraipetch and a team including a forensic doctor from Buddhisothorn Hospital and rescue personnel attended the scene.
The property had been abandoned for years, with large trees and banyan roots covering the iron gate and dense vegetation blocking the entrance. Officers had to push through vegetation for about 15 meters to reach the house. Inside the carport, they found a gray-black Toyota Corona bearing license plate Gor-5245 Chachoengsao, stripped of parts and wheels. One bedroom window had been forced open. Officers found scattered remains of human bones and skull fragments in the bedroom adjacent to the carport, which was exposed to rainwater leaking through an open window.
The deceased was identified as Prarin, 70, a retired government school teacher who had taught science at a well-known school in Chachoengsao Province. Tinakorn, 28, a motorcycle mechanic working nearby, said he had lived in the area for three to four years and often passed the abandoned house without ever seeing anyone enter or leave. He mentioned that police had arrested a suspect attempting to steal from the house two to three days earlier, and the suspect had escaped before being detained—an incident that may have prompted the police inspection that ultimately led to the discovery of the remains.
Neighbor Chong, 92, who lived next door, said Prarin had retired from government service two to three years early and lived alone with no close relatives nearby. Chong had not seen Prarin in over ten years and assumed she had moved to live with family in another province. Since the alley was a dead end, Prarin would have had to drive past Chong's house to come and go, but Chong had not seen her for many years. She had detected nothing unusual until police and rescue vehicles arrived at the house.
