Floods Inundate 7,220 Homes in Ayutthaya's Bang Sai District
More than 7,220 households in Bang Sai district, Ayutthaya province, have been submerged for over ten days as floodwaters rose above 1.5 metres due to increased releases from the Chao Phraya Dam and inflow from the Pa Sak River. Residents are navigating the flooded area using boats and foam rafts provided by local authorities, with many unable to afford boats. The Ayutthaya Provincial Administration Organization has distributed foam rafts to aid travel and transport of essential goods.
Bang Sai district in Ayutthaya province has been severely flooded for ten days, affecting 7,220 households. Residents rely on boats and foam rafts distributed by local authorities for travel and transporting goods. The flooding stems from continued rise in the Chao Phraya River after the Chao Phraya Dam in Chai Nat increased discharge to 2,500 cubic metres per second, combined with inflow from the Pa Sak River. Water levels in Bang Sai communities have exceeded 1.5 metres, submerging roads and forcing locals to use only boats or foam rafts. The Ayutthaya Provincial Administration Organization has supplied foam rafts as an alternative means of transport. Villager Wassana, 47, said the water has persisted for ten days and keeps rising, reaching near head height in some spots, making travel difficult especially when seeking medical care or buying essentials. Most residents live hand‑to‑mouth and cannot afford boats, so they depend on the inexpensive foam rafts, which cost 500–600 baht and are sometimes handed out by local agencies. According to the reporter, the latest figures show more than 23 sub‑districts and 136 villages in Bang Sai inundated, with over 7,220 households affected.
