Floodwaters Submerge Second Floors in Ayutthaya's Bang Ban District
In Bang Ban district of Ayutthaya province, floodwaters have risen to the second floor of many homes, forcing residents to use boats for transportation and seek temporary shelter. Authorities and locals are reinforcing embankments with sandbags and urging drainage into surrounding fields to ease the water levels. The shortage of usable toilets has led to requests for temporary floating facilities as the community awaits clearer relief plans.
Flood levels have risen continuously, reaching the second floor of numerous houses and requiring residents to travel by boat. Some families have moved to temporary rental accommodations to maintain access to work, while others remain stranded as roads are submerged. Villagers and officials have been strengthening dikes and placing sandbags to stop water from spilling onto roads, and vehicles are parked on higher ground. Many households report that toilets are unusable due to flooding, prompting appeals for temporary floating toilets. Interviewees described the flood as arriving rapidly, with water increasing by 50‑60 centimeters each day over about eight days, and noted that current depths approach two to three meters in some spots, making normal travel impossible, especially for the elderly.
