Former Fund Official Arrested for Embezzling Farmers' Repayments
On October 19, 2026, police arrested a former official of the Agricultural Debt Restitution and Development Fund in Ubon Ratchathani for allegedly embezzling farmers’ loan repayments. The suspect is accused of collecting payments, issuing false receipts, and keeping the money instead of depositing it with the fund. She has been transferred to the Regional Corruption Court to face charges under Thailand’s anti‑corruption laws.
Officials said the suspect, while assigned to a provincial branch of the fund, was responsible for debt administration, farmer organization registration, loan registration, contract assistance, land creditor liaison, securities transfer, asset registration, and debt relief work. She allegedly collected repayments from farmers who owed the fund and issued temporary receipts of her own making, but then failed to remit the money to the fund and instead kept it for herself, causing financial loss to the agency. She was arrested while working at a private company in Mueang Ubon Ratchathani district and has been handed over to the Regional Corruption Court for further legal proceedings.
