The Gastech 2026 conference formally closed in Bangkok with historic record attendance of 59,468 people from over 150 countries, held September 14-17, 2025 at BITEC. Announcements included memoranda of understanding, sales contracts, and investments worth approximately $40 billion USD covering energy procurement, power generation, and infrastructure development.
The success reflects Bangkok's position as a global energy business and investment hub, with collaborations supporting industrial growth and future expansion of AI and data centre infrastructure. Gastech 2026 brought together government leaders and industry executives to advance energy discussions into concrete cooperation and investment, strengthening energy security, expanding electricity generation capacity, and developing infrastructure to meet future energy needs.
Over 20 energy ministers worldwide attended, alongside chief executives and senior leaders from major energy companies including Chevron, ExxonMobil, Shell, PTT, EGAT, GULF, Eni, PETRONAS, and TotalEnergies. The event affirmed Gastech's role as a platform connecting policymakers, energy producers and suppliers, investors, infrastructure developers, and technology leaders.
The final day featured a strategic summit closing, with committee co-chairs summarising four days of business agreements, strategic discussions, and energy technology innovations addressing policies, investment, and infrastructure needed for the world's growing and increasingly complex energy demands from population, economic, and industrial expansion.
Ann-Sophie Corbeau, senior international researcher from Columbia University's Center on Global Energy Policy, noted strong interest among energy suppliers in emerging opportunities, while Prime Minister Anutthin Charnvirakul's address emphasised energy security, electrical systems, and sustainability—core themes driving event discussions.
Beyond energy dimensions, Gastech 2026 generated economic benefits for Bangkok from global attendees, stimulating tourism and business activity while showcasing Thailand's potential as a major destination for international tourism and business events, with support from the Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau (TCEB) linking opportunities to economic growth and long-term development.
Christopher Hudson, president of DMG Events, said the Bangkok event demonstrated the power of global energy leaders uniting to transform commitment into tangible results, with ideas and agreements creating sustainable value for the energy sector while advancing people, communities, and energy-dependent regions toward future security, stability, and economic opportunity.
