Grab Launches Part-Time Work Programme for Thais

Grab Thailand has launched the Grab Part-Time for Thais programme to encourage supplementary work alongside regular jobs, particularly among Gen Z and Millennials. The initiative invites vocational and university students as well as uniformed personnel—soldiers, police, and civil servants—to earn extra income during free time by driving for passenger services or working as delivery riders on the digital platform. Grab is conducting promotional activities and fast-track recruitment at educational institutions and government agencies including the Ministry of Defence, Royal Thai Army, and Royal Thai Air Force, offering special incentives for new drivers and complimentary support equipment such as jackets and food delivery bags to help Thais cope with rising living costs during economic slowdown.

Jantsuda Thananitiayaudom, Chief Executive Officer of Grab Thailand, said that current economic conditions have driven many Thais, especially Gen Z and Millennials, to pursue side hustles alongside their primary employment. The company is committed to leveraging technology to create income opportunities for all Thais regardless of gender, age, profession, or education level, allowing people to choose services based on their abilities and convenient times. Between January and June 2025, Grab saw driver and rider numbers grow by over 68% compared to the same period last year. The Part-Time for Thais programme specifically targets vocational students, university students, and those with regular employment seeking flexible additional income, particularly government employees—military personnel, police, civil servants, and educators—who can use off-duty hours or holidays to earn extra money.

Grab has already piloted the programme through partnerships with various agencies including the Ministry of Defence, Royal Thai Army, Royal Thai Air Force, and educational institutions nationwide, organizing promotional activities and offering fast-track registration with staff guidance. Participants receive complimentary support equipment, special incentives for drivers and riders meeting performance targets, and other benefits designed to expand economic opportunities for programme members.
