Heavy Rain Forecast Across 30 Thai Provinces, Flood Risk
2h ago Khaosod

The Meteorological Department's 24-hour forecast for October 7, 2026, predicts decreasing rain in upper Thailand but continued thunderstorms and heavy rain in some areas of the North, Central, East and South. The Northeast will see cooler mornings and slightly lower temperatures. Residents are advised to guard against thunderstorms, strong winds, heavy and accumulated rain that could cause flash floods and landslides, especially on slopes near waterways and low-lying areas. This weather pattern results from a high-pressure cold front from China covering the North, Northeast, upper Central and South China Sea, combined with easterly and southeasterly winds bringing moisture from the South China Sea and Gulf of Thailand to the lower Northeast and East, while the southwest monsoon covers the Andaman Sea and western Thailand. People in the Northeast should look after their health due to changing conditions. In the Andaman Sea and Gulf of Thailand, thunderstorm areas may produce waves over two metres; mariners should check routes, navigate cautiously and avoid sailing in thunderstorms. From October 9 to 13, the East, Central, including Bangkok and vicinity, and the South will see increased rain, with heavy to very heavy falls in places, as another cold front from China extends over the Northeast and South China Sea, shifting the monsoon trough over the East and upper South, with moderate southwest monsoon over the Andaman Sea, Thailand and the Gulf of Thailand. The public should closely follow weather updates and watch for dangers from heavy to very heavy rain and accumulated rain that could trigger flash floods and landslides. Today's forecast from 06:00 today to 06:00 tomorrow: North – thunderstorms over 60% of area, heavy rain and gusty winds in spots; low 20‑25°C, high 32‑35°C, variable winds 10‑20 km/h. Northeast – cool mornings, thunderstorms over 20% of area, mainly Loei, Chaiyaphum, Nakhon Ratchasima, Ubon Ratchathiani; low 20‑23°C, high 31‑34°C, northeast wind 10‑20 km/h. Central – thunderstorms over 60%, heavy rain and gusts in spots; low 23‑25°C, high 32‑35°C, variable winds 10‑20 km/h. East – thunderstorms over 60%, heavy rain in spots; low 23‑26°C, high 31‑35°C, southeasterly wind 15‑30 km/h; sea waves about 1 m, over 2 m in thunderstorm zones. South (east coast) – thunderstorms over 70%, heavy rain in spots.
