Homeless Father Seeks Aid for Ill Wife and ALS Daughter
A homeless father in Sattahip is living in a tent by Sukhumvit Road while caring for his ill wife and two children, one of whom suffers from a muscle‑weakening condition. After villagers reported the situation, local officials visited the site and are working to secure permanent housing and school access for the children. The family hopes stable shelter will allow the father to continue working and improve their livelihood.
The father, Manachai, aged 37, works odd jobs earning about 300‑500 baht per day, which he uses to support his family. His wife, 48, is receiving treatment at KM10 Hospital and cannot work. Their two children, a 15‑year‑old daughter with a muscle‑weakening disease and a 14‑year‑old son, are not attending school. Manachai said his greatest need is stable, safe housing so his wife and children can have better living conditions and the children can return to school, while he continues to work to support the family. Sattahip District Chief Natthawut Anuyota said social‑development agencies and private donors have already begun helping, and they are coordinating with Najaomtien Municipality to secure monthly rental rooms that are secure and durable, enabling the family to establish a permanent home. Authorities aim to provide suitable shelter, school access for the children, and long‑term stability and safety.
