Elderly Woman in Buriram Struggles to Care for Disabled Sons
An 80-year-old woman in Buriram province struggles to care for her two disabled sons on a monthly income of just 800 baht from the senior citizen allowance. She has been denied disability benefits for her children despite medical certification, and her home is in disrepair with a leaking roof. She appeals for public help, especially adult diapers, food supplies, and assistance with the disability registration process.
On October 10, 2026, reporters visited the village of Nonthong in Tambon Tung Krada Phatthana, Amphoe Nong Ki, Buriram Province, where they found 80-year-old Thongnak Domthaisong caring for her two sons. The 56-year-old son, Sawat, has been bedridden for nearly ten months after a cerebral artery blockage, while the other son suffers after brain surgery. Her only income is the 800-baht monthly old-age allowance, which does not cover basic living costs. She urgently needs adult diapers, rice, and dry food, and her home of over 30 years is dilapidated with a leaking roof. Thongnak also reports that despite medical documentation, local officials have denied disability registration for her sons, saying they do not meet the criteria. She asks relevant agencies to review the case and provide correct procedures. Donors can help via bank transfer to her account at the Bank for Agriculture and Agricultural Cooperatives, Nong Ki branch, account name Thongnak Domthaisong, number 015 932 818 928, or contact her niece Atchiratchaya, 48, at 061-963-6495.
