Disabled Man Stranded Alone in Flooded Home Awaits Rescue
A disabled man with no arms or legs is trapped alone in his flooded home in Chai Nat Province after the Chao Phraya River overflowed. He relies on donations and his last state welfare payment to survive while waiting for rescue, and local health workers have brought him his necessary medication.
The man, identified as Boonserm Si Suk, said the flood began on October 1 when the Chao Phraya Dam increased discharge to 2,500 cubic metres per second, forcing him to relocate his wheelchair. He has received rice, instant noodles, drinking water and canned fish from donors, and used the final welfare payment to buy cooking oil, fish sauce, soft drinks, coffee and eggs. Local health officers from Taluk Subdistrict Health Promotion Hospital have delivered his regular medications, including blood‑thinners, cholesterol drugs and diabetes medicine, to ensure continuous treatment while he remains cut off by water.
