A 12‑year‑old boy was killed after being thrown from a motorcycle and run over by a following Benz in Kamphaeng Phet. His 16‑year‑old sister, the motorcycle rider, suffered serious injuries. Police are investigating the crash involving a Toyota and the Benz.
On 3 Oct 69 at 5:00 p.m., Police Lieutenant Natthawut Singpha, investigator at Kamphaeng Phet City Police Station, received a report of a car‑motorcycle collision at the U‑turn on the bypass road, Tambon Nai Mueang, Mueang Kamphaeng Phet district. Officers and volunteers from the Sawang Kamphaeng Phet Thammasathan foundation responded. At the scene they found a silver‑coloured Benz driven by 72‑year‑old Sapthawit parked in the middle of the road. Near the left rear wheel lay the body of 12‑year‑old Adhibat face down in a pool of blood, his arms and legs badly deformed. A short distance to the left of the road lay a grey Yamaha Grand Filano motorcycle, its right side damaged, ridden by 16‑year‑old Supawin, who was seriously injured and rushed to hospital. Opposite the scene a white Toyota Corolla Cross driven by 57‑year‑old education institute lecturer Pakorn was parked with a long scrape on its front left side from the windshield to the bumper. Sapthawit said he had just had his oil changed and was heading home when he followed the Toyota; the Toyota suddenly hit the motorcycle, causing it to fall and the boy to be thrown in front of his car, which he could not brake in time and ran over the boy. Pakorn said he was driving straight from a traffic light when the motorcycle swerved into the U‑turn area, he tried to avoid but could not, resulting in the collision. Police took both drivers in for further questioning and are gathering evidence for legal action.
