At 1:00 p.m. on September 3, 2069, Police Lieutenant Praksit Phaladet of Huai Yai Police Station in Chonburi was notified that a person had been killed by lightning on a farm beside Rural Highway 2081 in Huai Yai subdistrict, Bang Lamung district. He arrived with rescuers from the Pattaya Ruamkatanyu Foundation. At the workers’ camp they found the body of Zee Jung Mau, a 17-year-old Myanmar national, his clothing ripped to shreds and his body severely burned; he had been dead for about an hour. Employer Ekaphong, 55, said he was driving workers back to the farm when he spotted the teen unconscious beside the road about three kilometers from the camp, near the tree tunnel. Heavy rain was falling at the time, so he carried the boy back to the camp and called for rescue, but the youth died shortly after. Relative Min Su, 55, said the boy had only arrived to visit three days earlier and had gone out shortly before the incident. Police have sent the body for autopsy to determine the exact cause of death.
