Nonthaburi Warns 30 Communities of Rising River, Sea Levels
Nonthaburi officials have warned 30 riverside communities in three districts to prepare for rising water levels and higher sea tides expected from October 5 to 19. The warning follows a Navy Hydrography Department forecast of increased flow in the Chao Phraya River and a surge in sea tide. Residents and businesses along the river are urged to monitor the situation closely.
Nonthaburi Deputy Governor Aphichai Aram Si announced the warning based on a forecast from the Navy Hydrography Department, which predicts higher sea tides causing the Chao Phraya River to overflow its banks. The department expects water levels in the river and canals to rise, especially in the low‑lying riverside areas of Mueang Nonthaburi, Pak Kret and Bang Bua Thong districts where 30 communities lie outside permanent flood defenses. Current flow rates are measured at 2,500 cubic metres per second at the Chao Phraya Dam in Chai Nat and 2,382 cubic metres per second at station C.29B in Sam Kok, Pathum Thani. Authorities urged residents, riverside businesses, and construction projects to stay alert and monitor the situation closely from October 5 through October 19.
