Truck Hits Boys on Motorcycle; One Dead, One Critical
A 14-year-old boy died and his 12-year-old companion was critically injured when a trailer truck hit their motorcycle on an Ayutthaya highway; the driver fled the scene and remains at large.
At 11:30 a.m. on September 4, 2569, Bang Pa-in Police received a report of a trailer truck colliding with a motorcycle on the Asia Highway parallel route at kilometer 35, Village 5, Khwang Muang Subdistrict, Bang Pa-in District, Ayutthaya Province. Officers from the Putthaisawan Foundation arrived to assist.
At the scene, they found the body of 14-year-old Anuwat lying on the road with severe head injuries. Nearby, 12-year-old Thitikorn was found with critical injuries including wounds to his eyes and body. Officers provided first aid before rushing him to Bang Pa-in Hospital.
About 15 meters away, a trailer truck with an Ayutthaya license plate was found parked. A red and black Honda Wave motorcycle with an Ayutthaya plate lay overturned on the road with severe front-end damage. The truck driver was not at the scene. Initial information suggests the driver may have fled in another truck that passed through the area. Police are pursuing the driver for investigation and legal action.
Later, 63-year-old Malay, grandmother of the deceased boy, arrived at the scene after being notified of the accident. When officers brought her the body for identification, she was shocked to discover it was her grandson, whom she had raised since childhood.
Malay revealed that at around 9:00 a.m. that day, her grandson had asked for his ID card, saying he was going to see a doctor for eye pain. She never imagined a tragedy would occur. Another grandson called to inform her that his brother had been hit by a vehicle.
Watcharaphon Dantri, Village 3 headman, and volunteers from the Putthaisawan Foundation reported finding one death and one critical injury. They noted that witnesses indicated the truck driver may have fled in another passing truck. The injured boy had open wounds around his eyes and multiple injuries, while the deceased boy suffered severe trauma from being run over. Investigators documented the scene and are preparing to formally question the injured boy to determine the exact cause and sequence of events.
Police are accelerating efforts to locate and interrogate the trailer truck driver according to legal procedures. The deceased was taken for preliminary autopsy at Bang Pa-in Hospital before being handed over to the family for religious rites.
