Hospital Fire Causes 27 Million Baht Damage, Structure Remains Sound

A five-story commemorative building at Ban Phaew Hospital (Public Organization) in Samut Sakhon caught fire, with damages totaling approximately 27 million baht. On September 14, 2569 at 9:00 AM, Deputy Governor Damrongsak Yodthongdi and hospital director Dr. Saowanee Geaddorn conducted an inspection with relevant officials and found the fire likely originated from a physical therapy center counter equipped with computers and a backup power transformer on the ground floor before spreading to other equipment.
After examining the site, Deputy Governor Damrongsak Yodthongdi announced that while damage was extensive on the ground floor, structural engineers confirmed the building's core structure remains solid and the visible cracks are only in external plaster. Once repairs are completed, the building can return to normal use. The hospital has relocated services to other areas, allowing patients to continue receiving treatment as usual. All patients currently in the building remain in good physical and mental health after receiving medical care and reassurance from doctors.
Environmental monitoring by Samut Sakhon Public Health Office and the Region 5 Pollution Control Office found normal air quality levels with no safety concerns. Police have identified the fire's origin but await final forensic analysis results. The damage includes approximately 7 million baht to the building structure and about 20 million baht to physical therapy equipment and instruments, totaling roughly 27 million baht. Deputy Governor Damrongsak concluded that Ban Phaew Hospital remains fully operational and ready to serve the public, with all scheduled appointments and patient services continuing normally.
