Son-in-Law Shoots Mother-in-Law Dead After Family Row
A 38-year-old son-in-law fatally shot his 58-year-old mother-in-law in the back following a family dispute in Surat Thani province on September 14; police arrested him in his hometown.
On September 14, police from Bang Muang Station received a report of a shooting at a residential property in Bang Muang subdistrict, Phun Phin district, Surat Thani province. Officers including Deputy Superintendent Somyote Iamwangso and Station Commander Chokchay Suththimekhaa responded to the scene.
At the two-storey concrete and wooden house, officers found Nipha, 58, shot in the back with a firearm of unknown caliber in critical condition. First responders performed emergency resuscitation before transferring her to Tha Rong Chang Hospital, where she was pronounced dead. The suspect was identified as Kritsada, known as 'Chang', 38, the victim's son-in-law.
Investigations revealed that the mother-in-law and son-in-law had a history of frequent disputes. On the day of the incident, they quarrelled intensely over family matters, after which the son-in-law opened fire on his mother-in-law before fleeing to his hometown in Chaiya district.
Police subsequently apprehended the suspect and recovered the weapon. He is currently being detained at Bang Muang Police Station for further questioning and legal proceedings.
