Thailand's domestic travel trends show tourists flocking to nature and beach destinations, with Khao Yai topping the list of fastest-growing spots, followed by Koh Chang, which saw search interest jump over 40%. Ttiporn Duangmak, Traveloka's Thailand and Singapore manager, revealed the findings from the Traveloka SEA Index for Q3 2026, noting that domestic travel reflects demand for diverse experiences—from nature retreats and beach holidays to cultural and local lifestyle immersion. The data, drawn from search and usage patterns across Southeast Asia, aims to help travelers access varied local experiences nationwide. Thailand's appeal lies in its variety: beautiful landscapes and coastlines, cultural heritage, and distinctive local communities. Growing interest in these destinations offers opportunities to discover new facets of Thailand. Traveloka pledges to simplify destination search and trip planning so travelers can explore rich local experiences across the country. According to the platform's ranking of domestic destinations with the highest interest growth, Khao Yai claimed first place thanks to its natural attractions and national parks, followed by Pattaya and Sri Racha as beach getaways, plus Nakhon Ratchasima and Sakon Nakhon adding unique local options. Meanwhile, Koh Chang emerged as a notable 'Next Destination' in the SEA Index, with accommodation and travel searches from Thailand up more than 40% year-on-year, signaling rising interest in island beach stays. Beyond the main index findings, deeper analysis on the platform in Thailand revealed a popularity surge for historic cities and cultural attractions. Nakhon Phanom saw accommodation searches rise about 50% in Q3 2026 compared to the previous year, thanks to its Mekong River setting and sacred sites, while Ayutthaya and Nakhon Si Thammarat also recorded increased searches, reflecting interest in historical monuments and Buddhist heritage. The trend of travel for religious pilgrimage was also evident in regional SEA Index reports, with hotel bookings from Indonesia to Mecca rising over 50% and those from Vietnam to Luang Prabang more than doubling, highlighting growing cultural and faith‑driven travel across Southeast Asia.
