Khon Kaen Seafood Restaurant Exposes Fake Medical Certificate Scam
A seafood restaurant in Khon Kaen warned other businesses after a customer tried to claim 2,380 baht for alleged food poisoning using a forged medical certificate. The restaurant verified the document with the hospital and discovered it was fake, prompting a police report. The customer later confessed the forgery was meant only to get a refund for the meal.
The restaurant owner said the customer placed the order via a delivery platform on October 3 and ate it at home. The next day, the customer messaged the restaurant’s Facebook page, complaining of abdominal pain and diarrhea, and attached a fake medical certificate and a receipt for 2,380 baht. After checking with the hospital, the restaurant confirmed the certificate was counterfeit and filed a police report; the customer later admitted the forgery was intended only to obtain a refund for the meal.
