King and Queen Celebrate Official Birthday Ceremony
Thailand's King and Queen observed an official birthday ceremony July 29 at the Grand Palace, lighting candles, presenting alms to monks, and conducting merit-making rituals with senior members of the royal family.
The King and Queen proceeded to the official birthday celebration ceremony on July 29, 2026 at 10:16 a.m. at the Amarin Winitchai Throne Hall in the Grand Palace, accompanied by Princess Sirivannavari, Prince Dipangkorn, and Princess Sineenat. Princess Bajrakitiyabha and Princess Chulabhorn were also present to pay their respects. Upon arrival, the King granted monetary gifts to royal astrologers, then ascended to the Pisalthakshin Throne to light candles and pay homage to the Siamese Deity. He subsequently lit candles at various altars dedicated to Buddhist and celestial figures, and presided over 75 monks chanting prayers for the birthday celebration and 5 monks chanting the Navakarma Dharma. The King presented alms to the Supreme Patriarch and distributed food offerings to 80 members of the royal family, nobility, and senior officials. Sacred scriptures were presented and distributed widely, followed by a merit-making fish release ceremony at the Royal Pier conducted by Prince Chaleermchuk. The King then presented requisites to various high-ranking monks and the Supreme Patriarch, with monks offering blessings and well-wishes. The ceremony concluded with the King and Queen paying respects at the altar before departing the Grand Palace.
