Land Transport Department Revokes 87 Vehicle Inspection Licenses

The Land Transport Department has revoked licenses for three vehicle inspection stations and canceled credentials for seven inspectors over fraudulent practices. Thitiphattana Thaiyongraksak, director of the automotive engineering office and spokesman for the Land Transport Department, said the department is strictly controlling and overseeing inspection stations to ensure compliance with standards and legal requirements. Since taking office, the department has revoked licenses at 87 inspection stations nationwide. In July and August 2025, inspection stations in Nonthaburi Province were found issuing false certificates without conducting actual vehicle inspections. The department has taken the following actions: revoked licenses for three inspection stations; canceled credentials for seven inspectors involved in the violations; assigned the Nonthaburi Transport Office to file charges and conduct legal proceedings against all involved parties; and initiated criminal prosecution under Sections 76 and 158 of the Land Transport Act B.E. 2522, carrying penalties of up to two years imprisonment and fines up to 40,000 baht. Violators are also barred from obtaining new licenses for five years (station operators) or three years (inspectors). Thitiphattana added that the department has instructed provincial transport offices nationwide to randomly audit inspection data, conduct site inspections, and hold briefings with operators both on-site and online. The department emphasized that vehicle inspections are critical to public safety and warned that any further violations will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.
