Lawyer Submits Evidence in Fundraising Fraud Probe
A lawyer submitted evidence to Thai investigators alleging that a prominent fundraiser and his foundation committed fraud by misusing donations, failing to account for purchased goods, and using donated items at a private studio.
At 9:30 AM on September 17, 2025, lawyer Sitthira Beeyabangkerd, also known as Tam Bah Phlang Chuay Duay, met with investigators at the Department of Special Investigation to provide testimony and submit additional evidence following the agency's acceptance of the case for investigation. The lawyer is pursuing allegations that Kan Jomphlang and the Kan Jomphlang Help Fight Foundation committed public fraud through their fundraising activities.
The main investigation points include: whether fundraising constitutes fraud; whether donated money was used for its stated purposes; whether goods were purchased at inflated prices with price markups; whether nominee companies were established to benefit the subjects; and whether dummy accounts were opened to receive transferred donations.
The lawyer noted that Kan Jomphlang's behaviour has changed noticeably—once aggressive and intrusive, the individual now remains silent when faced with public scrutiny and investigation. The lawyer also reported that Kan Jomphlang's team is heavily monitoring social media and blocking accounts that express suspicion or ask questions, suggesting the block list may now exceed the follower count. Additionally, the lawyer observed that Kan Jomphlang has recently resumed recycling old charity videos to confuse the public and has returned to promoting sympathetic cases after previously focusing on high-profile cases that generated large donations.
A significant piece of evidence involves air conditioning units allegedly donated following a building collapse. Donations were collected to purchase dozens of air conditioning and air purification units, but no accounting was provided for their distribution. The lawyer reports that similar-looking units were later spotted at Kan Jomphlang's private studio in Nonthaburi province, appearing to be used for live-streaming product sales. The lawyer questions whether using donated goods for private use constitutes misappropriation of donations.
