Lopburi Launches Clean Energy‑Digital Economy Center to Boost Green Growth
Lopburi officials and local residents have endorsed a clean energy‑digital economy centre projected to generate over 10 billion baht in economic value. The project, covering about 250 rai, will combine solar power, battery storage, a data centre and a clean‑fuel plant, while incorporating environmental safeguards and a community oversight committee. Leaders say it will cut energy costs, create jobs and boost regional green growth.
Kosol Talthong said the centre could generate more than 10 billion baht in economic value if developed according to plan, linking clean‑energy initiatives with digital‑economy activities to attract investment, expand business opportunities and distribute income to local entrepreneurs and residents. The project also aims to lower energy costs, create jobs and equip the workforce with skills for future industries. The development plan allocates about 100‑120 rai for solar‑power generation and battery storage, 15‑20 rai for a data centre, and 35‑45 rai for a clean‑fuel upgrading plant, together with utility systems, water‑management facilities, a raw‑water storage pond and a green buffer zone to mitigate impacts on surrounding areas. During the public consultation, residents raised concerns about air‑pollution, water usage and traffic; project representatives explained pollution‑control measures, wastewater treatment for reuse, and the separation of heavy‑truck routes from main community roads. Participants agreed to establish a tripartite monitoring committee comprising community representatives, municipal officials and project staff to oversee environmental safeguards and handle grievances on an ongoing basis. Kosol added that the project’s goal is not only economic gain but also tangible benefits for locals, including reduced living costs, job creation, efficient resource use and environmental stewardship, with continuous community participation to ensure long‑term socio‑economic improvement.
