M6 Exit to M9 West Closes for Construction Until March 2027
The M6 expressway exit to M9 West (Bang Bua Thong) at Bang Pa-in 2 interchange will close from November 6, 2026 to March 31, 2027 for construction of the M9 Western Outer Ring Road. Traffic will be diverted to expanded parallel highways 3901 and 3902, with alternative routes advised for affected motorists.
The Department of Highways announced a temporary closure of the M6 expressway exit connecting to the M9 West (Bang Bua Thong) at the Bang Pa-in 2 interchange, effective November 6, 2026 through March 31, 2027. The closure facilitates construction of the interchange and entry-exit ramps as part of the M9 Western Outer Ring Road project, Lad Lum Kaeo to Bang Pa-in section. During construction, mainline M9 traffic will be diverted to parallel highways 3901 and 3902, which have been pre-expanded to three lanes per direction to handle volume. Drivers from Nakhon Ratchasima on M6 heading to M9 West cannot use the direct connector and should exit via Highway 1 (Phahonyothin) or M9 East instead. Traffic from M9 West to M6 Nakhon Ratchasima remains open normally. Highway 1 users heading to M6 can still access via the Mahachulalongkornrajavidyalaya University entrance. The government urges motorists to plan ahead, allow extra travel time, reduce speed in construction zones, and obey traffic signs. The Department of Highways will confirm exact dates and diversion details before implementation, with 24-hour traffic monitoring, warning signs, signals, safety equipment, and personnel deployed to minimize disruption.
