Thailand Opens M6 Motorway Free Through Sept 29 to Ease Flood Congestion
Thailand has extended free access on the M6 motorway through September 29 to ease traffic congestion caused by flooding on major highways in central Thailand.
The Department of Highways announced an extension of free trial service on the M6 motorway between Bang Pa-in and Pak Chong, a 110-kilometer route, extending from the usual Friday-to-Sunday schedule to run continuously until midnight on Tuesday, September 29, 2025 as a special measure. The extension aims to provide an alternative route and redistribute traffic from highways affected by flooding, including Phaholyothin Road from Bang Pa-in to Saraburi and Mittraphap Road from Saraburi to Kaeng Khoi. After the special measure ends at midnight on September 29, the M6 motorway will return to its regular schedule of free service every Friday and Sunday, resuming on Friday, October 2, 2025. The project remains under construction and is currently limited to four-wheeled vehicles with a maximum speed of 80 kilometers per hour. The Department of Highways urges users to exercise caution, avoid unnecessary stops on the roadway, and strictly follow traffic signs and staff instructions for safety.
